In 2011, under current majority leadership, Dane County lost their AAA bond rating. We need to work to get this rating back.
Our County's priorities are upside down: We spend money in the wrong areas while core services go neglected. We need to spend more money on people -- not on purchasing more land or on debt service.
Dane County debt was $68,871,663 in 2000. Currently we are ending 2011 at $240,025,000 !!! In 11 years we have added over $171 MILLION in debt. We cannot continue this trend. We need to look carefully at every dollar we spend and get this wild spending under control.
• I led the effort that eliminated over $2.6 MILLION in unneeded county borrowing in 2011.
• I have opposed Dane County's proposed budgets that overspent and over-taxed taxpayers for the last six years.
Our county needs to provide services more efficiently than they do now, with less cost, for better value --I call it "Responsible Spending!"
